A Short Story

You may be wondering the same thing Tucker did as he sat in the Target dressing room with me.  He asked, "mommy, why are you crying?"  and I replied, "because I'm happy!" to which he queried, "why?"

I told him it was a long story and I would explain later, and proceeded to snap some pictures in the dressing room to share with y'all. After we exited the dressing room he asked if I would explain it now.  I responded, "You see this little section of clothes here, where mommy usually gets her clothes?  Those are the clothes for bigger ladies.  Mommy has been buying her clothes in that area the whole time she has been a grown-up.  See all these other lady clothes?" I asked, waving down the whole rest of the side of the store, where the "normal" sizes are. "Those are for more regular size people.  Mommy always wanted to fit into those clothes, and today, for the first time, she did!"  He looked at me with his head cocked for a moment and replied, "Mom, that's not a long story!  That's a short story!"

Indeed.  It is, however, a short story with a very happy ending!  This is me, in the Target dressing room, and those, my sweets, are size 18 pants from the "normal" pants rack.  They are zipped and buttoned, and I didn't have to lay down on the floor or perform any sort of yoga moves to get them on!

Ah, sweet victory!

I didn't have time that day to really experiment, as Target jeans have six different "fits" and Tucker's patience was wearing thin, but I raced back today with Jack along as well, and he took Tuck to look at video games while I had a little fashion session and tried on a variety.  I came home with my first official pair of size 18 jeans and a boost to my self confidence!

Oh, and when I weighed in March 1 I had lost about 2 more pounds, bringing my weight loss total to just over 77 pounds (about a 7 pound loss for the month of March).

Wow! That must have been a very exciting moment. When was the last time you wore an 18?

you look really great. The first thing I thought was "nice ass Jenny girl!" Hope that doesn't sound too prevey.

That's "pervy" not "prevey" and yes it does. Only Richard gets to say "nice ass Jenny Girl".

This post literally brought tears to my eyes as I would love to be able to fit in the clothes in the 'normal' section as well. You are doing so great!!!

Thanks, everyone! I think the last time I wore an 18 I WAS 18! And mom, I will take "nice ass" anywhere I can get it, so no worries on being "prevey" or "pervey" or anything of the sort!

I love this post. I am so excited for you and love to see your hard work and dedication pay off.

I wish I could string more than a few words together right now, but you know how happy I am for you without me saying a word.

Know that our family celebrated when Riley told me you called and what you said (even though she rubbed it in my face that she knew first!). XOXOXOXO you are a freakin' rock star.
