My best friend Regina was in town overnight this weekend for a funeral, but she stayed with me so I got her Saturday night and most of Sunday. She wanted to start off our time together by treating me to a manicure and pedicure, and I was more than agreeable!
My pretty toes! After that we were relaxed and hungry, but luckily I had gone out earlier that day and bought some lovely porterhouse steaks. Richard grilled the steaks for us with some steamed sweet potato and sliced onion that he grilled alongside the steaks. The three of us had a leisurely dinner and then sat outside with a fire in the chimenea and reminisced and caught up for a few hours.
Sunday morning I made us a bacon, jicama, and onion hash with some hard boiled eggs and then she and I headed out for a hike to the water tower. We took a longer path than the one I intended to, and it was a little more strenuous, but nothing we couldn't handle! We stopped at the top to take a breather and snap some dorky pictures before heading back down. Yes, we have the exact same Adidas Climacool neon shoes. No, we did not plan it. We are just that clima-cool!

We made it back down the hill and were just about to reward ourselves with unsweetened tea from Starbucks when she got a text and realized her flight left two hours sooner than she thought! We had 45 minutes to get her stuff from my house and get her to the airport. She made it with twenty minutes until takeoff but they said she was too late to board, so I picked her back up and we got a few more hours to shower and relax before her new flight left. We were joking about how our morning was like an episode of the Amazing Race. We could almost hear Phil..."Regina and Jennifer, I am sorry to tell you, you are the last team to arrive. You have been elimated from the flight." I miss her already!
